a courtyard for the cotswolds

This project comprises three distinct garden spaces created by a new, minimal extension to a traditional Cheltenham townhouse. We carefully analysed the sun’s movement throughout the day to create a minimal design that maximises the small spaces. A small bench near the kitchen catches the first of the morning sun, perfect for the first coffee of the day. Carefully placed trees screen views from neighbouring properties and create depth within the space. The dining area is shaded over lunch in mid-summer, but is bathed in the last of the evening sun for late-night dining. The monolithic stone facade is used as a framework throughout the garden and replicated at a smaller scale for a small outdoor kitchen and storage unit. Construction of the house is scheduled to begin early next year, so we hope to start the garden in the Autumn.
